Most children who get everything they want are spoiled to the core. They are very selfish and seldom, if ever, think about the needs of others. God’s children should get everything they want. “Getting everything wanted” needs some qualification, however. An explanation is included in the next paragraph.
Psalm 37 records much wisdom about ignoring and transforming the coveting tendencies of human beings. It is human nature to look upon the wealth of one who is dishonest or outright evil, and wonder why being honest results in financial struggles. As a matter of fact, wanting what others have is typical human nature. How the wealth is gained is a non issue. That may be why God gave the commandment against coveting. Here is the interesting transformation offered. One must make a desire for an intimate relationship with God priority one.
37:3) Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
4) Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
A relationship with God the Father who owns all, is a much better way to own it all.
37:9) For evil doers shall be cut off;
But those who wait on the Lord,
They shall inherit the earth. (nkjv)
Those who are evil do not know God, and therefore they do not realize everything they have is on loan from God. It will be repossessed and made available to God’s people in the end. If Christians maintain the divine desire to delight in the Lord, then they will receive the desires of their heart. When Christians have their desires transformed, then God’s children should and will get everything they want.
