Don’t Blame The Delivery Boy
For I received from the Lord that which
I also delivered to you. (1 Corinthians 11:23, nkjv)
To help support my family while in seminary, I loaded trucks for Roadway Package Systems. Not one time did I ever decide what was to be loaded onto the trucks for delivery. What the customers wanted delivered is what I loaded onto the trucks. I put each package on a truck predetermined by the customer’s choice of delivery destination. My job was simply to help keep the flow of packages moving from customer to destination by loading the packages onto the appropriate delivery trucks.
The Christian’s purpose for living is to deliver the package that has already been bundled. The Good news of God’s love was very well packaged in the person of Jesus Christ. The message must never change, and it must never cease to be delivered to a lost world until Jesus returns. Customer satisfaction in the package delivery business is measured by percentage of packages that arrive at their appropriate destinations in their original condition. The Lord will never be satisfied with anything less than His message being delivered. Christians must remember that we are only the delivery personnel. We must never stop delivering, and we must never corrupt the package by presenting anything not consistent with the Word of God.
