Being a bread winner is very important to any father who genuinely cares for his family. It is evidenced day after day in the men who work grueling jobs to make a living for their families. Every generation and occupation is represented. Coal miners work to provide for their families up until the day they die with black lung disease. Steel and saw mill workers retire with their bodies gnarled by the intense physical labor their jobs require. Many computer techs and programmers will retire under psychological care due to stresses induced by the extreme volatility of the computer industry. Collar colors (blue or white) are not a factor. Men are driven to work to feed their families.
It just may be that men inherited this trait from the Heavenly Father who provided the Moses gang with manna from Heaven. This is good news for Christian fathers, mothers and children. God the Father sent God the Son to be the Good Shepherd who feeds his sheep “in good pasture.” (Ezekiel 34:14) God as good shepherd promises emphatically from Ezekiel’s prophecy,
16) I will feed my flock … says the Lord. (nkj)
Take comfort this day sheepish families.
The Good Shepherd is working overtime to provide daily bread. He is on the job 24/7.
