Have you encountered someone who thought they were much wiser than they really were? I am talking about the kind of people who know it all. They can tell you the exhaustive truth about everything from the stock market to the best teaching techniques for kindergarten. They know the best thread to use for making a quilt and the best player in any major league sport.
Before you are too encouraged to high horse it, allow yourself to be encouraged to look in the mirror. There you may see someone who is too wise in their own eyes. With the advancement of internet technology, it is not surprising that many people know much about many subjects. If one feels threatened by such people, it may be that he or she is placing too much emphasis on who knows what, and not enough emphasis on who genuinely knows it all, God.
- Do you see a man wise in his own eyes?
(Do not forget to check the mirror when looking.)
There is more hope for a fool than for Him.
(Proverbs 26, NKJ)
I am glad it is O.K. to not know everything. Such a condition makes simple child-like trust in Father God so much easier.
